Wheelchairs for St Giles
February 20, 2017

The Rotary Club of Claremont was pleased to receive Milton and Elaine Frary and Alan Drewitt, from the Wheelchair Foundation UK for a three day visit to assist with the delivery of 15 wheelchairs, recently received by the Club via the good auspices of the Foundation.
A contingent of 10 Rotarians and Inner Wheelers, plus our guests from the U.K. visited the Cape Town Association for the Physically Disabled on Thursday 16th Feb to hand over 10 wheelchairs, which were gladly accepted by Wilfred Diedricks, the CEO of CTAPD. A short presentation by Wilfred and a resume of the Wheelchair Foundation’s history and objectives by Milton brought us all up to speed on the activities of the two bodies.
A similar handover, this time of 5 wheelchairs, took place the next day at the St Giles Association for the Handicapped.
It was great having the three from the U.K., who are also Rotarians, visit us. We learnt a lot and made new friends with some good, influential people.

Happy CLaremont Rotarians and Inner Wheelers with the three Wheelchair Foundation UK visitors officially hand over 10 wheelchairs at the premises of the CT APD on Thursday 16th Feb
