This past weekend (31 July – 2 August), Claremont Rotaract joined 6 other Rotaract clubs and some Rotarians for the annual Rotaract District 9350 conference hosted by Bellville Rotaract. The location was Club Elani, on the Misverstand Dam; the theme was ‘A Whole New World,’ and the agenda was fun, socialising, and learning. The clubs partook in workshops and activities ranging from self-defense to project management, and the Gala Dinner on Saturday evening – where Claremont was awarded with the District Raiding Trophy, a Rotary International Rotaract Citation, and the DRR Challenge for the best joint project with Wynberg Rotaract – was definitely a highlight for all.
There was also the AGM and a ‘Looking Forward’ session, and Claremont Rotaract is also present on the district committee with Christopher McEvoy being the head of PR. Over and above the fun and fellowship shared by all, this was also an opportunity for Claremont to gear up for the next year and form better bonds with Rotarians. This was an inspiring weekend that has definitely motivated Claremont to do more as a club and make a bigger impact in all regards.
