An initiative of one of the teachers at SACS Junior School where each child in Grades 1 to 6 was asked to bring one loaf of bread and a packet or tin of soup on the 15th of June . The children formed the shape of body with a large heart in the middle of the school hall using the 500 loaves of bread, 600 packets and 200 tins of soup A truly heart warming sight.
This wonderful donation will be distributed between three soup kitchens in Ravensmead, Newfields and Rondebosch East which, between them, feed nearly 500 people of all ages as often as ingredients are available. One loaf of bread and a cup of soup is the difference between going to bed hungry or having something warm to eat. An easy, fun and rewarding project for all schools where the advantaged learn of the enormity of the poverty not too far from their homes.
