Saturday 19th July saw a group of senior Rotarians, Rotaractors and San Souci Interactors join forces to give the children of Al Noor Orphange a day of fun and lots of treats. Each child received a carrier of toiletries. A cake box full of sweets, chips and cup cakes. A new fleece blanket and more sweets from a Lucky dip.
We taught the older girls to make lip balm, which was a great hit, while the older boys played bingo. Everyone was able to choose an item of new clothing from a sponsor who lives in Majorca or a note book. I was rather surprised that children chose the note book over clothing.
Interact organized a bead making event where both boys and girls joined in. At lunch time the owner of Ocean Basket in Canal Walk brought 67 boxes of fish, chips and rice and the children sat down and ate off their new colorful tablecloths. The Rotary family ate theirs in the lounge. New shower curtains were hung in the girls shower room with new bathroom mats. With the activities done for the day, we got lots of hugs and left.
